McQuaid shows nice game in Vegas

Junior Matthew McQuaid presents matchup problems for the opponent.

— Junior Matthew McQuaid is an athletic shooting guard prospect that will only see his stock go up after playing in the BigFoot Hoops Las Vegas Classic that started on Wednesday and ends on Sunday.

McQuaid, 6-5, 175 pounds of Duncanville, Texas is a member of Team Texas Elite that features Oklahoma State commitment Austin Grandstaff and center Elijah Thomas, who has numerous offers. His skills shine despite the strong roster.

He reports scholarship offers from Baylor, Texas A&M, Alabama, Oklahoma, Kansas State and several others. Arkansas could be the next school to get into the mix.

"I’m just open to anyone right now in my recruiting process," McQuaid said. "I watched a couple of their games last year and they’re very uptempo team and I like that."

McQuaid showed the ability to handle the ball and drive by the defender and the ability go high and strong to the basket. His outside stroke makes him hard to defend.

Arkansas' fast tempo is attractive to McQuaid.

"I think I would fit in because when you get uptempo you get a lot more shots too," he said. "I like that and dunks.”

McQuaid, who plans to map out any future visits in August, gave his thoughts about his game.

"I shoot the ball well and I put the ball on the floor when I have to," he said. "I like to get everybody involved. I like to take charges and D up."
