Vegas Hoops Updates Day III

Mike Anderson, right, University of Arkansas head basketball coach, chats Thursday with pro golfer Juli Inkster before they tee off of the 11th tee during the pro-am at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers.

— The Arkansas Hawks went into today's FAB 48 standing at 3-0 and fell to BTI Select of California 64-62 today. The Hawks had a 46-29 halftime lead but cold shooting on the second half helped BTI pull out the win. Hog commitment and forward Trey Thompson scored 9 points, point guard Kahron Ross had 14 and guard Daryl Macon had 11 at the half. Thompson and Ross were scoreless in the second half while Macon had 9.

Arkansas associate Coach Melvin Watkins caught the end of the Hawks game. He stayed to watch guard Nick Babb and center Myles Turner of Texas Select.

Coach Mike Anderson saw Colorado Hawks 2016 power forward De'Ron Davis this afternoon. Davis, 6-9, 240 pounds is rated by ESPN the No. 3 power forward and No. 10 overall prospect in the nation. He's attended the Hogs' August camp the past two years. He has about eight offers, including Arkansas, UCLA and Indiana.

Arkansas looks to be in the mix for small forward Josh Cunningham, 6-7 of Chicago Morgan Park HS and shooting guard Miles Reynolds, 6-2 of Chicago Whitney Young. The Hogs offered Cunningham in the spring and are beginning talks with Reynolds. Both said they have interest in the Razorbacks.

In other recruiting news, defensive end Gerri Green of Greenville, Miss. received an offer from the Hogs on Friday during his visit. He said in a text message that Arkansas was one of a kind and he enjoyed his visit.
