Stankiewicz agrees to deal with Red Sox

Teddy Stankiewicz was reported to agree to a deal with the Boston Red Sox on Monday.

— The Boston Red Sox drafted two Arkansas signees in the first three rounds and reportedly agreed to the terms of a deal with one of them Monday.

Right-handed pitcher Teddy Stankiewicz, a second-round pick (45th overall) for the Red Sox, was reported to have reached a $1.1 million deal, according to Alex Speier of WEEI.com. Speier said the deal is pending a physical.

Stankiewicz signed with the Razorbacks last year as well, but after failing to come to terms with the New York Mets, who drafted the 6-foot-4, 215-pound pitcher with the 75th overall pick in the 2012 MLB draft, he elected to attend Seminole State Junior College.

Stankiewicz posted a 4-5 record and a 2.52 ERA at Seminole State. He also struck out 70 batters in 60 2/3 innings of work.

Boston also drafted Arkansas signee and catcher Jon Denney in the third round (81st overall). The Razorbacks had just two other signees selected in the 2013 MLB draft. Right-handed pitcher Jacob Stone was drafted in the 30th round and outfielder Andrew Benintendi was selected in the 31st round.
