Little Rock Catholic junior athlete D.J. Brown made a name for himself as an offensive play-maker for the Rockets last year but he'll most likely play in the defensive backfield should he become a Razorback.
Brown, 5-10, 172, 4.48 seconds in the 40 yard dash. had about 1,100 all purpose yards and scored 8 touchdowns this past season. He participated in Arkansas' three day camp earlier in the week.
"They said if I go there I would probably be converted into a corner because of my size and speed," Brown said. "They like their running backs like 6-2, 200 but the idea of me playing corner I like it a lot. It wouldn't bother me at all."
The Hogs plan to continue to evaluate Brown during his junior and senior seasons.
"They said they're going to keep watching me and see how I develop over the next two years," Brown said. "Since I have a while and see how my body develops."
Brown and his father, Bill was given a tour of the campus by recruiting coordinator Chris Hauser.
"They're building on to the facilities, " Brown said. "(Hauser) told me about the game room and the movie theater and everything they do is mostly for the players. It's going to be really nice."
The Rockets announced former Malvern Coach John Fogleman would take over as the head coach this summer. Brown said he's spoken to Fogleman and the plan is to use him on defense too.
"He said I'm going to get a lot of reps my defense this year," said Brown, who also played receiver the last four games of the season. "He said Arkansas is going to need some corners."
