For Kinnel, it's all about people

Safety Tyree Kinnel, who's one of the better 2015 prospects in Ohio, plans to visit the Hogs for a game in the fall.

Most recruits mention facilities as being important to them while looking for their college destination. Junior safety Tyree Kinnel won’t likely be swayed by buildings but more by the people of a school.

“All the campuses look nice at all the big schools,” Kinnel said. “Every single one of have something nice about it. When it comes down to it, I just want to feel like it home. So it’s not the facilities that makes me want to go there, it’s the coaching staff, the players and stuff like that and would make me feel like family.”

Kinnel, 6-0, 190, 4.47 seconds in the 40 yard dash of Huber Heights Wayne High School has scholarship offers from Arkansas and Kentucky while drawing interest from numerous others. Cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson has him ready to visit the Hogs.

“He’s a real cool guy, seems pretty chill,” said Kinnel, who recorded more than 90 tackles and 2 interceptions, one being returned for a score. “We started building a relationship back in the spring which is pretty good.”

Kinnel said if he doesn’t visit Fayetteville this summer he plans to attend a game in the fall. He said the lure of the SEC is big.

“I want to go to college and win games and compete for national championship,” Kinnel said. “It seems the SEC is always in the national championships. I feel like Arkansas is always at the top at the end of the year in SEC and they have a whole new coaching staff . I talked to the defensive coordinator and they all seem pretty cool and really want me to come there.”
