Saturday recruiting tidbits and updates

Jonesboro defensive lineman Chuks Ota.

Quarterback David Cornwell, 6-5, 235 of Norman, (Okla.) North said he called Arkansas offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and he plans to visit sometime during the spring. He attended the Hogs' game against Ole Miss in Little Rock this past season. He reports offers from Indiana, Auburn, Washington State, Tulsa, Miami, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma State.

Arkansas offered defensive end Peyton Newell of Hiawatha, Kansas on Friday. Offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn, 6-2 1/2, 272, 5.3 St. Petersburg, (Fla). Lakewood reports talking to offensive line coach Sam Pittman and receiving his 15th offer today from the Hogs.

About 15 football prospects will be visiting Arkansas today. Below is most of the recruits visiting.

5:55 update

DL Chuks Ota of Jonesboro had a very good visit and was able to talk to defensive line coach Charlie Partridge and Coach Bret Bielema. Very impressed with both and feels very comfortable talking to them. No offer but feels like one could be coming in the future. The Academic Game Plan which focuses on structure for the student-athlete was a highlight of the trip along with being able to learn more about strength and conditioning Coach Ben Herbert and his program.

6:15 update

2015 QB Ty Storey of Charleston said he spent time with offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and liked pro-style offense. He said that's the type offense that suits his skills the best. He said Chaney wants to see him throw in camps and also wants him to come up for spring practice too. He visited Auburn last week. In addition to Arkansas, he hopes to attend camps at Oklahoma, Alabama Auburn and Florida State.

CB Kavin Alexander of North Little Rock said each position split into groups with that particular coach. He was able to spend time with defensive coordinator Chris Ash and was told the Hogs want to be known as a defensive school not just offense. The Razorbacks want to focus on takeaways. He said the coaches are real down-to-earth and easy to talk to. He said Bielema told he and Partridge like his film and they want him to come to camp. He said the coaches are pretty on him.

Ath. Deandre Murray of Springdale said he was in the DB group. He said Arkansas told him they were on the verge of offering him. He plans to go to some spring practices and attend a summer camp too. The Arkansas-Kentucky was top-notch he said.

It's my understanding there were no offers extended today.

TE Will Gragg of Pine Bluff said he talked to Bielema and was told his offer was still good. He said he was told by Bielema and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. he would fit in with their tight end packages. He had high praise for Bielema and Lunney. Really liked both. He loved the Hog basketball game and the atmosphere.

7:08 update

Arkansas commitment and RB Juan Day of North Little Rock arrived in Fayetteville on Friday and spent time with running backs coach Joel Thomas and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. He went up on Friday to spend time at Arkansas and also see the Charging Wildcats play in the playoffs. He was able to talk to Bielema today and between the two days it reconfirmed his commitment to Arkansas. It was his first trip to Arkansas since his pledge.

7:18 update

LB Kevante Lowery, 6-4, 195, 4.6 of Smackover said the coaches were the best part of his visit. He spent time with Ash and liked his way of coaching and how personable he was. He plans to attend Arkansas' summer camps in hopes of gaining an offer. He's also being recruited by Oklahoma St. and Arkansas State.

QB Isaac Jackson of Ft. Smith Southside said he had a great visit to Miss. St. today. He said the Bulldogs seem very interested and made him feel at home. He'll visit Arkansas next weekend.

9:27 update

Ath. Bo Weddle of Carlise had a very good visit at Miss. St today. They asked him to come back for the spring game on April 20 and their June 8 camp.

DL Will Jones of Parkers Chapel also visited Miss St. today. The Bulldogs want him to attend their June camp too. He plans to visit Arkansas next Saturday and Louisiana Tech on Sunday.
