Wednesday recruiting tidbits

Taver Johnson, who coached Arkansas' linebackers in 2012, will coach cornerbacks next season.

Safety Brandon Simmons, who has 41 scholarship offers, will visit Arkansas at some point during spring practice.

Simmons, 6-0, 180, 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash, Mansfield, Texas Timberview said earlier in the week he was considering a visit. Arkansas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, LSU and Michigan are among his offers. Cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson is his lead recruiter.

Quarterback David Cornwell, 6-5, 235 of Norman, (Okla.) North said his father visited Arkansas on Tuesday while in town for a business trip. He said his father was impressed with Coach Bret Bielema and the staff.

He attended the Hogs' game against Ole Miss in Little Rock this past season. He reports offers from Indiana, Auburn, Washington State, Tulsa, Miami, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma State. Cornwell said he plans to visit Arkansas soon.

Defensive lineman Dylan Thompson, 6-5, 260 4.8 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Lombard, (Ill.) Montini said Arkansas has offered him. He attended the Wisconsin camp last summer and worked with defensive coordinator Chris Ash and defensive line coach Charlie Partridge.

Arkansas has offered cornerback Chris Murphy of Marietta, Ga. Lassiter, according to Derrick Crudup.
