Diamond Hogs move up following sweep
Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn watches from the dugout Saturday, March 9, 2013, during the second inning of the Razorbacks' win over San Diego State at Baum Stadium.
FAYETTEVILLE Arkansas moved up to No. 15 in both the USA Today/Coaches and Baseball America top 25 polls Monday following a four-game sweep of San Diego State.
The Razorbacks moved up four spots into a tie with Louisville in the coaches' poll and one spot in the Baseball America poll. Arkansas, which had started the season ranked No. 1 by the coaches, had fallen several spots in both polls following a four-game losing streak at the Coca-Cola Classic in Surprise, Ariz. the week before.
This week the Razorbacks (11-5) will host Alabama A&M for a two-game midweek series before opening Southeastern Conference play against Ole Miss on Friday at Baum Stadium. The Rebels (16-1) are ranked No. 6 in the Baseball America poll and No. 8 by coaches.
Arkansas is 0-2 this season against ranked teams, dropping 3-2 and 3-1 decisions to then-No. 25 Arizona State.
