UA track has 31 all-Americans

Arkansas sprinter Akheem Gauntlett was one of 31 athletes named to the USTFCCCA all-America team on Monday.

— Arkansas' men and women indoor track teams combined to put 31 athletes on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's all-America list Monday.

The Razorbacks men had 17 all-Americans - the most of any team - and the women had 14, second to national champion Oregon. Arkansas' men won the NCAA indoor championship over the weekend in at the Randal Tyson Track Center, while the women finished fourth.

Nine of Arkansas' men and 13 women earned first team honors from the USTFCCCA. Seven athletes earned all-America honors in multiple events, including Makeba Alcide (high jump, pentathlon), Akheem Gauntlett (200 meters, 4x400 relay) and Marek Niit (200 meters, 4x400 relay), who earned two first-team honors.
