Before visiting Arkansas over the weekend, Baylor commitment and athlete Davion Hall heard good things his cousin, Jarrion Lawson, who's a freshman jumper on the Razorbacks' track team.
"It was better than what he told me." Hall said. "I didn't think it would be that cool because it's up in the hills. But actually, it was pretty nice."
Hall, 6-3, 192 pounds, 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Texarkana, Texas, Liberty-Eylau reports having approximately 10 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, LSU, Missouri, SMU, Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Oklahoma. The close proximity of the facilities and the Hog fans stood out.
"I liked the fans, they're into it," said Hall laughing. "I saw a lot of people tripping out at a baseball game I've never seen that before. At the track meet that was the first time to hear the pig sooie thing. I thought it was pretty cool."
After the visit, Hall said the Razorbacks moved up on his list.
"They have a good chance," Hall said.
Arkansas is offering Hall a chance to play safety after his freshmen year should he master the playbook while playing receiver.
"That's another reason why I kind of moved them up," said Hall, who's being recruited by tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. "I like playing both."
Hall said enjoyed meeting the coaching staff.
"All of them were pretty nice because it was a recruiting thing," Hall said. "I actually enjoyed talking to them and communicating with them I look forward to building a relationship with them."
He gave Coach Bret Bielema a thumbs up.
"He was very, very, very cool." Hall said.
While bragging about Arkansas, Lawson isn't pushing his cousin to Fayetteville.
"He's not telling me to come or force me to make me come up there," Hall said. "He told me it was a very good school."
Hall said he's still committed to Baylor but left the door open.
"Anything can happen down the line." Hall said.
