Arkansas receivers coach Michael Smith impressed Warren's VonEric Gonder.

Arkansas receivers coach Michael Smith was a hit with Warren receiver VonEric Gonder when the Hogs host about 15 prospects on Saturday.

"He's real laid-back and makes you want to be around him and makes you want to work hard for him," Gonder said. "I would really like to play for him. He just has something about him that makes him stick out. At first you'll probably be a little nervous but once you get around him for a good minute you feel right at home with him. I like that he's about business but he also likes to have fun too. "

Gonder, 6-1, 190 was one of the Lumberjacks' top play makers last season with 51 receptions for 972 yards and 8 touchdowns. He's also drawing interest from Arkansas State and Oklahoma State. He was able to take in his first Hogs' basketball against Texas A&M.

"It was great atmosphere and I really enjoyed it." said Gonder, who visited with teammate and offensive lineman Jhamahl Bell.

Arkansas' coaching staff and facilities also impressed Gonder, who was surprised by Coach Bret Bielema stature.

"He's a really tall guy," Gonder said. "I didn't expect him to be that tall. he's a pretty laid-back guy. "

Former Lumberjack and Arkansas receiver Jarius Wright, who recorded 22 receptions for 310 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings this past season, sat court-side for Saturday's basketball game. Gonder said seeing Wright's success inspires him.

"It feels good to know that a couple of people have made it and they were former Razorbacks." Gonder said.
