June trip in the works for Thompson

Defensive lineman Dylan Thompson flexes after flipping a 750 pound tire three times.

Defensive end Dylan Thompson has talked to Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema, defensive coordinator Chris Ash and defensive line coach Charlie Partridge and is looking visit the Hogs.

"They're really interested in me," said Thompson, who knows the three coaches after attending Wisconsin's football camp last year. "They really want me to get down there for a visit down there as soon as I can The soonest we can get down there is early June. They're looking at me as a strong side defensive end."

Thompson, 6-5 1/2, 280, 4.83 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Lombard, (Ill.) Montini reports 14 scholarship offer from schools like Arkansas, Ohio State, Iowa, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Ole Miss. He said Partridge gave him tips during the Badgers' camp.

"He helped me with my swim move," said Thompson, who has cousins in Little Rock. "He said I was going too high with the arm. I was going to break my ribs one day he helped me get it down and a lot faster."

Strength isn't an issues for Thompson, who reports a 405 pound bench press, 585 squat, 585 dead lift and power clean 345. He has also recorded a 31-inch vertical and 4.64 pro-shuttle time.

Thompson also plans to visit Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and possibly Missouri during his June trip. A solid education is his backup plan.

"Obviously, I want to go to the pros in football," Thompson said. "That's my biggest goal since I was a little kid. If something happens to me in college and if I tear my ACL, break my neck I want to be set up for the rest of my life. So school with a good program where I'll be able to make a living if football doesn't work out."
