Top offensive lineman planning Arkansas visit

Offensive lineman Jovan Pruitt.

Offensive lineman Jovan Pruitt attended Arkansas' 52-0 loss to Alabama in September but doesn't believe that will happen in the future with Coach Bret Bielema in Fayetteville.

" They were pretty much over powered in a lot of ways," Pruitt said. "I'm pretty sure a lot of that is going to change and they're going to step it up next year in the SEC."

Pruitt, 6-6, 275 pounds, 5.2 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Dallas Bishop Dunne high school reports 10 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. He's being pursued by running backs coach Joel Thomas and offensive line coach Sam Pittman.

"He was actually the first coach I talked to from Arkansas," Pruitt said of Thomas. "He was telling me how they want me down there and they like my film."

Pruitt, who reports a 275 pound bench press and 455 squat, spoke about his strengths.

"My athleticism and my motor that's what I get recognized for." Pruitt said.

A visit to Arkansas is in the works after several discussions with Pittman. .

"He knows how to talk," Pruitt said. "He's just opened his arms to me and telling me to come to Arkansas whenever I feel like it and give him a call when I do. I want to take that opportunity and go down there soon."

Pittman has informed him about the depth chart.

"He was telling me how many linemen they have," Pruitt said. "He said like there were three or four walk-ons last year. he said it's open when i come down there. I can look to that and keep that in mind."

Like a lot of students entering college, Pruitt isn't sure what he wants to study.

"I'm probably going to come into college as undeclared as a major," said Pruitt, who has a 2.9 grade point average and is considering sports management , chemistry or biology as possible majors. "I'll take some tests and see what I want to major in college."
