FAYETTEVILLE Arkansas will host Memphis in the first round of the Women's NIT Thursday night at Bud Walton Arena.
The Razorbacks finished the regular season with a 19-12 record following a 63-41 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville last Thursday. Arkansas is in the postseason for the second consecutive year, having advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season and the WNIT quarterfinals in 2011.
The winner of the Arkansas-Memphis game will face the winner of a game between Tulane and Sam Houston State at a site and date to be determined following the completion of the first round.
It is the third time the Razorbacks have advanced to the WNIT under sixth-year coach Tom Collen and fifth time overall. Arkansas won the WNIT in 1999 and reached tournament semifinals a year later.
In addition to the Razorbacks, Arkansas-Little Rock was also selected to compete in the 64-team field. The Lady Trojans will play Friday at Pacific.
