Thomas' expectations met during UA visit

Running back Johnathan Thomas impressed with Arkansas visit.

Running back Johnathan Thomas had high expectations of Arkansas before arriving in Fayetteville for Monday's visit and he didn't come away disappointed.

"It was exactly what I was looking for," Thomas said. "It was exactly what I thought. I was going to see It was above anything else I've ever seen."

Thomas, 5-11, 205, 4.47 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Danvers, (Mass.) St. John's Prep received a scholarship offer from Arkansas about three weeks ago and stated his desire to visit. The Hogs provide excellent academic support.

"Everything from the academic standpoint and the help that's given to the players, the tutors," Thomas said. "The college town, everything was great."

In addition to Arkansas, Thomas reports scholarship offers from Boston College, Maryland, Connecticut, Holy Cross, Yale and Massachusetts. He was given a tour of the football complex to be completed this summer.

"It really is amazing, I've never seen anything like it." Thomas said.

Thomas' father, Nathan, who works for the Massachusetts state police and provides security for the Governor, accompanied him on the trip.

"He really enjoyed himself, he likes it." Thomas said.

Thomas mentioned the possibility of committing during his visit but plans to hold off on a decision.

"It's going to be early summer time," he said. "I don't think it will even go pass July, maybe in June."

The Arkansas facilities, including the stadium impressed.

"I've never seen anything like it," said Thomas of Reynolds Razorback Stadium. "The biggest stadium I've seen on the East Coast is Gillette stadium where the Patriots play and the Arkansas stadium was bigger than that."

Thomas, who rushed for 1,812 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior, talked to Coach Bret Bielema about the Razorback offense.

"He said I'm fit for the type of offense he's going to be running," said Thomas, who has a 3.5 grade point average. " The I formation, he said I fit that. He thinks very highly of me."

He's unsure if he'll make other visits.

"Right now, I do not know." Thomas said.
