D-lineman expected to visit Hogs

Defensive lineman Daniel Cage is still considering Arkansas as one of his five official visits.

Arkansas is one of several schools defensive lineman Daniel Cage is planning to visit during the summer in large part because of cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson.

"He was saying they're very interested in me and he and I have to stay in touch and keep building this relationship," said Cage, who's also looking to make trips to Tennessee, Louisville Florida and Georgia Tech this summer. "So I can learn more about Arkansas. He said Arkansas is a big school, SEC and lot of competition and it's a great place to be."

Cage, 6-2, 295, 4.9 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods High School has approximately 29 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia Tech. He appreciates Johnson not harping on the NFL during their conversations.

"I'm really not focused on the NFL," said Cage, who has a 2.9 grade point average. "I'm not looking forward to going to the NFL but if I get the opportunity I'm going to take it."

He's looking more towards his education and majoring in physical therapy.

"Right now there are lots of jobs are open in the physical therapy field," Cage said. "It's a great field to go in. If I do make it to the NFL, I'll probably start my own business and start a workout program in more like a gym."

Cage, who has a 375 pound bench press, said he's won championships dating back to his Pee Wee football days and the school he signs with must have the same track record.

"In high school that's when it stopped, I'm trying to get back to winning championships," Cage said. "So if a team is winning championships that's where I want to be."
