Did You Know?

The last time Arkansas scored in every inning had been a seven-inning, 32-8 win over St. Louis on April 07, 2010. The Razorbacks tallied a run in all six innings in which they hit in that game.

Brian Anderson led the Razorbacks’ offense with a 4-for-4 performance. The sophomore left-fielder replaced Tyler Spoon in the third spot of the batting order Saturday and was just a double short of hitting for the cycle. Anderson scored four runs and drove in another three, including a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Arkansas (33-17, 16-9 Southeastern Conference) scored its first run after Joe Serrano led off the opening inning with a double and Dominic Ficociello drove him home with a RBI single. Even though the Razorbacks stranded the bases loaded in the first, the Arkansas offense failed to be shut out for any one inning.

The Razorbacks got the lead-off batter on base six out of eight times and scored him each time he reached. In the other two innings that Arkansas tallied runs, Brett McAfee scored after hitting a one-out triple and Matt Vinson scored after reaching on a one-out single. Arkansas totaled 12 hits in the win.

Ryne Stanek (7-2) did not need as much offensive support as he received to secure the win. The junior right-hander tossed seven shutout innings and tied his season high with nine strikeouts. Stanek allowed five hits before being replaced by Landon Simpson. Simpson allowed Tennessee to score its only run of the game when Vincent Jackson hit a RBI double in the eighth inning.

Arkansas freshman Colin Poche replaced Simpson in the inning and finished the game for the Razorbacks. In 1 1/3 scoreless innings of work, the Flower Mound, Texas native struck out three batters and allowed just one hit.

Tennessee starting pitcher Nick Williams (2-4) took the loss and lasted just 2 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits.

Arkansas and Tennessee (20-27, 7-17 SEC) will play the rubber match at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday at Baum Stadium. Senior left-hander Randall Fant (4-1, 2.27 ERA) gets the nod for the Razorbacks on senior day and the Volunteers will counter with freshman right-hander Aaron Quillen (2-3, 6.04 ERA).
