Wednesday recruiting tidbits

Rafe Peavey of Bolivar, Mo., became Arkansas’ first oral commitment for the 2014 class.

Arkansas offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Jim Chaney's visit to Bolivar, (Mo.) High School to check on Hog quarterback commitment Rafe Peavey has been moved back to Thursday. Bad weather on Tuesday and travel problems associated with that forced the Wednesday visit to be moved back a day.

The Wednesday visit was tweeted out by this reporter on Tuesday.

Cornerback Chris Lammons, 5-10 1/2, 171, 4.37 of Plantation, Fla. said he plans to visit Arkansas this summer. He has about 20 offers and is being recruited by defensive line coach Charlie Partridge. He knows Arkansas running back signee Alex Collins after competing against him twice.

Auburn and Tennessee are the latest schools to offer Arkansas defensive lineman target Abu Lamin, 6-5, 290, 4.86 of Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.

Oregon offered Arkansas defensive line prospect Matt Dickerson, 6-5, 275, 4.9 of San Mateo, California, Junipero Serra on Tuesday. He now has 13 offers.

2015 athlete Avery Johnson of Highland maxed out at 280 pounds on the bench press on Tuesday. He also recorded a 445 squat and 275 power clean.

Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee visited Greenwood on Tuesday to check on Tulsa quarterback commitment Jabe Burgess. Arkansas has also visited the school.

Arkansas tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. visited Parkers Chapel to check on offensive lineman Will Jones and Camden Fairview to evaluate several prospects, including defensive back Keyondre Jones, who posted a 4.21 handheld time in the 40 yard dash at the Arkansas Football Combine. It was Lunney's second trip to the school.

Fort Scott Community College defensive lineman target Abu Lamin, 6-5, 290, 4.86 reports his top five in no order are Arkansas, South Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee and Arizona State. He should know today or Thursday on whether Southern Cal will offer him or not. He said he'll announce his decision come either at the sixth game of the year or national signing day.

Lamin plans to visit Arkansas June 3.
