Collins named Male Athlete of the Year

Arkansas incoming freshman running back Alex Collins was named the Broward County Male Athlete of the Year for all sports by the Miami Herald this morning.

Collins, 5-11, 210, 4.4 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of South Plantation High School rushed for about 1,400 yards this past season and ran the third leg of his school's state title 4x100 relay team.

As a junior, Collins rushed 228 times for 1,786 yards and 28 touchdowns in Class 8A, the highest classification in Florida, while being named Broward County Player of the Year.

He plans to report to Arkansas on Sunday.
