Top safety lists Hogs in top eight

Arkansas Assistant/Wide Receivers Coach coach Michael Smith works with his team during practice Saturday morning at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

Safety Mattrell McGraw has narrowed his list of more than 30 scholarship offers to eight and Arkansas was one of the lucky schools.

McGraw,6-0,185, 4.52 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of River Ridge, (La.) John Curtis said Arkansas has been recruiting him very hard and he was impressed that defensive coordinator Chris Ash recently visited his school.

He said lead recruiter and receivers coach Michael Smith is a cool guy and a straight shooter. He also commented on Coach Bret Bielema being a winner at Wisconsin.

As been mentioned by his teammates in the past, McGraw said he, receiver Malachi Dupre, cornerback Terrence Alexander and linebacker Kenny Young plan to visit the Razorbacks this summer. If that doesn't happen, he said he and Dupre, his best friend will visit together.

He said he has a 3.3 grade point average but believes with the last semester included it will go up to a 3.5.

Others to make his top eight are Oregon, UCLA, Southern Cal, Alabama, Florida State, Arizona State and Ohio State.
