Thompson inks with Hogs

Trey Thompson, of Forest City, works out with his all-Arkansas AAU basketball team at the Jack Stephens Center at UALR after a press conference Thursday announcing the The Real Deal in The Rock AAU basketball tournament will be held there in mid-April. The tournament is a showcase for top-flight basketball prospects and is considered one of the best grassroots basketball tournaments in the nation.

Forrest City forward Trey Thompson, 6-9, 250 pounds has signed his national letter of intent, according to Tim Cooper of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

He picked the Hogs over other scholarship offers from Memphis, Florida, Mississippi State and others, averaged about 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 block shots and 3 assists as a junior. He’s rated a 3-star prospect and the No. 30 power forward in the nation by ESPN.

Guard Nick Babb, 6-4, 180 of Arlington, Texas, Martin will ink at his school around 1:30 today.

North Little Rock point guard Anton Beard, 6-1,180 will sign with the Hogs during a ceremony at the school at 4 o'clock on Thursday.
