Florida LB has Hogs in top three

LB Sharieff Rhaheed visited during Arkansas' opening game of the season.

At one time, linebacker Sharieff Rhaheed listed Arkansas as his top school, but with recruiting heating up things have changed.

“They’re still in the top three,” Rhaheed said of the Hogs. “I just don’t have a top school anymore.”

Rhaheed, 6-4, 212 pounds, 4.7 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Fort Pierce (Fla.) Central has more than 20 scholarship offers, Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Louisville and Ole Miss. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He has the Hogs, Missouri and Louisville as his top schools.

“I’m still trying to set up my USC official and I’m going to Louisville the 17th of January.” Rhaheed said. “I’m going to take all five. That’s the plan.”

Rhaheed officially visited the Hogs for the opening game against Louisiana -Lafayette.

“The fans, the atmosphere the coaches and the scheme,” said Rhaheed of what impressed him during his trip. “In the future, I see them turning it around.”

He chimed in on why the Hogs are struggling this season.

“They’re going from a couple different schemes,” Rhaheed said. “They’re going from an air raid to like a power type and you can’t do it overnight. I think they ran a 4-3 before coach B (Bret Bielema) got there but I know it’s very different.”

His comfort level with Coach Bret Bielema, defensive line coach Charlie Partridge and linebackers coach Randy Shannon is at a high level.

“I can talk to any of them about anything,” Rhaheed said. “They’re almost like father figures and I look up to them. They’re good coaches. All of them have a history of putting players in the pros. They’re all good guys.”

Rhaheed, who officially visited Missouri on Oct. 25, returned to action about three weeks ago after missing most of the season after having wrist surgery before the season.

“Honestly, football wise I’m like 60 percent,” he said. “That’s not including the wrist injury. I’m still trying to work my way back.”

His college decision will likely come late January.

“Probably like Jan. 20th, the week after that,” Rhaheed said. “Pretty much when I get back from my Louisville visit because I’m planning on that being the last one.”

His teammate, defensive end Rashawn Shaw, a Louisville commitment, won’t be visiting the Cardinals with Rhaheed.

“I’m not going to Louisville with him because he’s going in December,” Rhaheed said. “He said he wants to go to other schools to visit, but I don’t know if he’s actually going to do it.”

Rhaheed did encourage Shaw to make his way to Fayetteville.

“I’ve been trying to get him to go to the Catfish Hole,” Rhaheed said. “That was an experience.”

He spoke about his time at the Catfish Hole.

“The food, the fans,” said Rhaheed about what stood out about the restaurant. “The food again was real good. They knew so much about me and I didn’t know any of their names . It was just an experience.”
