Former Arkansas guard BJ Young was cut by the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
Young, who left the Razorbacks earlier this year following his sophomore season, was signed to a three-year contract by the Rockets in July after going undrafted. Young played for the Rockets' summer league team following the draft, averaging 11.8 points in four games.
The Houston Chronicle reports he is a candidate for a roster spot on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets' developmental league team. The St. Louis native led Arkansas in scoring as a freshman and sophomore, averaging 15.2 points per game last season.
Former Razorbacks Patrick Beverley and Ronnie Brewer are among the 18 players left on the Rockets' preseason roster.
