Arkansas picked eighth in preseason

— Arkansas basketball was picked to finish eighth this season in the Southeastern Conference, according to the league media vote Wednesday.

The Razorbacks are coming off a 19-13 season and 10-8 record in conference play. Arkansas is looking to replace its two leading scorers from last season and doesn't have any players listed on the conference preseason first or second team.

Kentucky was picked to win the conference with 21 of 27 first place votes. Florida was picked to finish second overall and Tennessee was predicted third.

Other teams ahead of Arkansas in the predictions were LSU, Missouri, Alabama and Ole Miss. The Razorbacks are scheduled to play Kentucky, LSU Missouri and Alabama twice this season.

Kentucky freshman forward Julius Randle was selected as the league's preseason player of the year. Other first team players included Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson, Alabama guard Trevor Releford, Tennessee guard Jordan McRae and LSU forward Johnny O'Bryant III.
