UA adding to Bud Walton student section
Arkansas students celebrate after the Razorbacks beat No. 2 Florida 80-69 on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.
FAYETTEVILLE The University of Arkansas will add 175 floor-level bench seats to the student section at Bud Walton Arena prior to the start of basketball season in November.
The move comes after the UA Associated Student Government passed a resolution supporting additional seats last February. No season ticket holders will be affected by the addition, according to a statement.
New seating for students will be located on the east end of the arena where media seating has been located the last five years. Media seating will be moved to the southeast corner of the arena.
UA officials cited a growing student population as a primary reason for the new seats. The university's enrollment topped 25,000 for the first time this fall.
