Hope features two promising sophomore linemen
Two of the better looking prospects at the Arkansas-Samford game still have three more years of high school football left to play.
Sophomore defensive lineman McTelvin Agim and offensive lineman Kaderious Rowe of Hope passed the eye test and Bobcats Coach Jay Turley is high on both.
Agim 6-4, 240, 4.9 seconds in the 40 yard dash, showed well at Arkansas’ Elite Prospect camp in July and is one of the top recruits in his class. He had 6 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a pass deflection and 2 sacks in Hope's 35-21 victory over Nashville last week.
“Arkansas is crazy about him,” Turley said.
Turley said Agim has an excellent work ethic in the weight room.
“Real strong for his age,” Turley said. “He’s about a 265 pound power cleaner, 400 pound squatter and getting close to a 300 pound bench press. He’s a body, big frame. He’s a super competitive.”
Agim, who shined at Arkansas' Elite Prospect Camp in July, uses his speed and length to his advantage.
“He’s long, he has long arms,” Turley said. “He does a good job of using his leverage and his height to get leverage on people and uses it to make it tough for quarterbacks to see over him.”
Turley believes Agim could play inside or outside in college.
“Depending how he develops physically,” he said.
Rowe, 6-1, 325 pounds just turned 15 years old last month and has loads of talent. He graded out at 92 precent and had 4 pancake blocks against Nashville.
“That’s probably the only thing holding him back right now,” said Turley of his height. “He had a great game Friday night. I think he’s a sleeper.”
Rowe moves exceptionally well.
“I want him to slim up a little get closer to 300," Turley said. "He’s real aggressive, has great feet for a big guy. He does a good job of sealing the edge for us.”
If last year is any indication, Rowe will grow a few more inches.
“He wears a size 14 or 15 shoe,” Turley said. “He grew two inches from ninth grade football to this year. He’s long too. Just unbelievably thick. He has some baby fat but he’s really solid.”
