Arkansas offer intrigues New Jersey prospect

Sophomore receiver Cameron Chambers is excited about his offer from the Hogs.

Arkansas is the first SEC school to extend a scholarship offer to sophomore receiver Cameron Chambers.

Chambers, 6-3, 195 pounds of Sicklerville, (N.J) Timber Creek had offers from Temple, Toledo, Purdue and Rutgers before the Hogs offered.

“I think physically he’s more mature than a normal 10th grader,” Timber Creek Coach Rob Hinson said. “That makes him attractive to a lot of schools.”

A visit to Fayetteville after the season is a possibility.

“Right now with the offer, I was very excited and was letting it digest,” Chambers said. “Maybe after the football season is over, maybe venture down there to check it out and see what Arkansas is all about. I definitely want to learn more about the program.”

Razorback receivers coach Michael Smith visited Timber Creek the day before the Rutgers game. In addition to Chambers, the Hogs also like receiver Adonis Jennings, a Rutgers commitment and junior cornerback Kareem Ali. The Hogs have offered Jennings and are still evaluating Ali.

His father, Chris, was an All American in track and field in high school and went on to play football at Temple on scholarship.

Chambers hasn’t been timed in the 40 yard dash, but he’s not overly concerned.

“I’m a game speed type of guy,” said Chambers, who has 17 receptions for 374 yards and 4 touchdowns in three games this season. “I get that ball in my hand and I have a burst. I’m like I can’t let that guy catch me. It’s almost like that type of feeling.”
