Hogs showing interest in sophomore TE
Prairie Grove sophomore Dylan Soehner, shown blocking a shot in the 4A North Regional, became a force in the middle for the Tigers. Soehner scored nine points against Dollarway during the Tigers' 69-43 loss at the State 4A boys basketball tournament on Friday.
The sophomore class in Arkansas is shaping up to be one of the better classes the state has seen in years. Prairie Grove tight end Dylan Soehner is one to keep an eye on for the 2016 class.
Soehner, 6-7, 260 pounds has visited Arkansas a few times and the latest came during the Hogs’ March 20 practice before spring break. He’s grown up around the Razorback program. Video highlights CLICK HERE
“It would be cool to stay close to home,” Soehner said. “I’ve always watched the Hogs and that’s something I would like to do and be one of those guys you see on TV. Being around Fayetteville, I’ve always looked up to them and it would be cool to be one of those guys.”
Arkansas, Auburn, Arkansas State along with others are showing interest. He said he and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. have discussed attending a Razorback camp.
“He tells me they’re interested,” Soehner said. “He’s talked to me a couple of times about coming to the camp. I might do the one day camp. I think there’s a three day camp. I plan on going to one of them.”
Soehner, who could become an offensive tackle on the next level, isn’t overly concerned about his future position.
“Whatever they think is best It depends on the team and what they need,” he said. “The way my hands are I would like to play tight end, but it doesn’t always workout the way you want.”
His 6-7 frame will probably see some additional growth.
“I’m still getting those growing pains,” Soehner said. “A couple of doctors have said they think I might have a couple more inches left.”
