Thursday recruiting tidbits

North Little Rock High School star guard Anton Beard hopes to lead the Charging Wildcats to the 7A state title this year.

Arkansas point guard signee Anton Beard has been named Wendy's Player of the Year in Arkansas.

Beard, 6-1,180 of North Little Rock helped lead the Charging Wildcats to the Class 7A state title. He was a two-time All-State selection.

He averaged 20.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 3.8 steals per game and was the MVP in the state championship game.

Arkansas offensive line signee Jovan Pruitt of Dallas Bishop Dunne will take the ACT test on April 12.

As reported earlier in the week, Hog signees, running back Juan Day and safety Santos Rameriz are expected to visit during Saturday's practice along with tight end Josh Moore of Olathe (Kan.) North.

Highly recruited defensive end Marquavius Lewis of Hutchinson C.C. in Kansas will also visit. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Parkers Chapel freshman running back Dezmon Jackson, who will participate in the Dallas Nike Combine this weekend, has a recorded a 11.38 time in the 100 meters this spring.

Some of Lewis' offers are Arkansas, Auburn, Kansas State, West Virginia, Miami, Missouri and Tennessee. He’s expected to graduate in December and will have three years to play two.  He’s not claiming favorites.

Lewis was named All Conference last year after recording 60 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hurries and 6.5 sacks. He's a South Carolina native.
