Jones impresses at Nike Camp

Smackover sophomore receiver Jordan Jones is one of the more promising in-state prospects in his class.

Smackover sophomore receiver Jordan Jones was hoping to get noticed at the Dallas Nike Camp on Saturday and he did just that.

More than 300 plus athletes from several states participated in the event and featured numerous top prospects.

Jones, 6-1, 170 pounds opened eyes after making one of the best catches of the day when he dove for an overthrown ball and caught it with his fingertips. Video highlights CLICK HERE

“It’s confidence booster,” Jones said. “Just have to come out here and give your A game and not put pressure on yourself and have fun.”

He recorded 25 receptions for 687 yards and 10 touchdowns last year. During the combine part of the day, Jones had a 4.57 in the 40 yard dash, 4.53 pro-shuttle, 30 inch vertical and 28.5 foot power ball toss.

“It’s fun being out here with the best athletes,” Jones said.

Jones, who plans to visit Arkansas April 19, also had 2 interceptions and returned one for a touchdown last season.

He and Razorback tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. talk on a regular basis. Their latest conversation came last week.

“We talked for about 30 minutes,” said Jones, who also wants to visit TCU in the near future. “It was pretty good conversation. He told me to give him a shout next week.”

When he does make it to Fayetteville in about a week and half, it will be his first time to check out the Hogs.

“I’m looking forward to getting the campus,” Jones said. “I’ve never really been to Arkansas‘ campus. I was there couple times. My cousin actually graduated from there. That’s the only time. I’ve never been on the field or anything.”

Jones’ father has also been talking to Lunney.

“He loves him,” he said. “He’s an Arkansas guy, so anything Coach Lunney has to say he’s going to take heed.”
