Friday recruiting tidbits

Tight end Austin Cantrell.

Arkansas tight end commitment Austin Cantrell of Roland, Oklahoma recently recorded 11.3 seconds in the 100 meters at 250 pounds. He also has thrown the shot put 58 feet and 7 inches.

Arkansas extended an offer to offensive lineman Andrew James of Herriman, Utah on Thursday.

The Hogs' new recruiting coordinator E.K. Franks said on Recruiting Thursday radio show that he has recruiting connections in Texas, Mississippi, Georgia and Louisiana. He said he has cousins who are head coaches and assistant coaches in Texas.

He said Arkansas will be on the cutting edge of technology when it comes to recruiting.

Cornerback Jaylon Lane of Nacogdoches, Texas said he's been talking with defensive backs coach Clay Jennings and an offer appears to be in the works. He plans to visit once the offer is extended. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Running back Mikell Lands-Davis of Douglasville, Georgia, Alexander said he'll probably visit Arkansas this summer. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Fayetteville tight end C.J. O'Grady said Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma are his top three schools in no order. He plans to visit the Sooners' spring game on Saturday.

Arkansas defensive end target James Lockhart of Ennis, Texas hang cleaned 315 pounds on Thursday. He plans to visit the Hogs.

Highland athlete Avery Johnson high jumped 6-1 and tripled jumped 43-4 on Thursday to qualify for the state track meet. He'll visit Memphis today.

Highland receiver Deon Stewart tripled jumped 44-3 and long jumped 21-7.5 to also qualify for the state meet.

Little Rock Central quarterback Cooper Westbrook, 6-2, 220 pounds has been invited to the Dallas Elite 11 regional competition on May 4. Highlight video CLICK HERE
