Jones looking forward to observing Hogs' scrimmage
Smackover sophomore receiver Jordan Jones will be making his first trip to Fayetteville to check out Arkansas’ football program on Saturday and is looking forward to seeing the Hogs scrimmage.
“I’m looking to seeing how the players practice and actually see how a college practice is ran,” Jones said.
Jones, 6-1, 170, 4.45 seconds in the 40 yard dash, was named an Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Super Sophomore after recording 25 receptions for 687 yards,10 touchdowns and 21 rushes for 171 yards and 3 touchdowns. Video highlights CLICK HERE
“I want to see the wideouts,” said Jones, who’s also drawing interest from Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Memphis and others. “How hard they work and the speed of the game, how different it is from high school.”
Jones also returned 4 punts for 77 yards and 3 kickoffs for 91 yards. He had a chance to talk to Coach Bret Bielema on Tuesday.
“He told me that they were really giving me a good long hard look and they like me a lot,” Jones said.
He said tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. is straight forward during their conversations.
“Well he’s real honest,” Jones said. “He was like we like you, but we’re not guaranteeing you anything. He’s the kind of guy you want talk to, real calm. Now I don’t know what he's like on the field.”
Jones, who grew up cheering for the Hogs, is hoping to see the Razorbacks extend a scholarship offer.
“Man, honestly I’ll probably be real emotional,” he said. “It would be big dream coming true.”
An offer won’t necessarily end his recruitment.
“No, not this early,” Jones said. “I’m gonna enjoy the ride, but they will always be number one.”
