Tuesday’s visit to Arkansas has Highland receiver Deon Stewart thinking about making a decision in the near future and the Hogs are in good shape.

Stewart, 6-1, 163, 4.48 seconds in the 40 yard dash, was able to watch practice and have 1-on-1 time with Coach Bret Bielema, receiver coach Michael Smith, strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert and offensive coordinator Jim Chaney. Video highlights CLICK HERE

“Coach Chaney and I sat down and all of the coaches actually pointed out a few things,” said Stewart, who has the Hogs as his leader. “Things I really didn’t notice if I were to come here and that helped.”

Stewart, who has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Louisville, Tulsa, Southern Miss and Arkansas State, said Chaney told him about the advantages of the pro-style and how he would fit into the offense.

“Coach Chaney was telling me I was more of a slot guy,” Stewart said. “But if I get bigger they possibly might move me out on some plays. I probably need to get bigger too, because the guys are going to be up on me and I need to get some upper body strength to try and get them off of me.”

He recorded 36 receptions for 757 yards and 8 touchdowns and also rushed 27 times for 448 yards and 4 touchdowns. Smith told him something that excited him.

“Coach Smith was talking about me being back there as a punt returner too,” Stewart said. “I thought that was neat because I do that at Highland. It would be pretty sweet being out there being like Joe (Adams).”

Stewart plans to to talk to his mother about the recruiting process and didn’t rule out a decision coming in a short period of time.

“Basically, after talking to all of the coaches, I just realized a lot of things and kind of got me thinking,” Stewart said.
