May wins SEC award
Arkansas senior Anthony May attempts to clear the bar in the high jump during a dual meet against Texas on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville.
FAYETTEVILLE Arkansas' Anthony May was named Southeastern Conference field athlete of the week Tuesday after an impressive weekend at the Drake Relays.
May had the NCAA's top triple jump this year with a 53-0.75 mark - a personal best. He also won the high jump title at the meet with a mark of 7-3.75, which is the second-best in the SEC and third-best nationally this season.
The Razorbacks finished tied for the Drake Relays team championship with Illinois. Aided by May's national marks, Arkansas' men moved up one spot to No. 3 in this week's national team rankings released by USTFCCCA, while the Razorbacks' women remained No. 9.
