Adams signs with Texans

Carolina Panthers special teams coordinator Brian Murphy (left), working with receiver Joe Adams (Arkansas) during a preseason minicamp, was fired by Panthers Coach Ron Rivera on Monday after the team gave up a 76-yard punt return for a touchdown to Trindon Holliday in Sunday’s 36-14 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Joe Adams has signed with the Houston Texans, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The former Arkansas wide receiver joins the Texans after spending time with the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL. Before that, he played for the Carolina Panthers, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

In nine games with the Panthers, Adams caught one pass for seven yards and ran the ball three times for 13 yards. He also returned 11 punts for 127 yards and nine kickoffs for 208 yards.
