— Pitcher Landon Simpson is transferring from Arkansas to Southern Arkansas, according to his father.

The right-hander has two years of eligibility remaining after redshirting and pitching two seasons for the Razorbacks. Simpson appeared in 15 games as a reliever last season for Arkansas, recording a 3.55 earned run average in 25 1/3 innings. He pitched in 14 games as a freshman with a 1.88 ERA.

Simpson pitched well this summer playing for the Waterloo Bucks of the Northwoods League. He was undefeated in eight starts and had a 2.45 ERA in 51 1/3 innings.

A Magnolia native, Simpson will be this parents' second son to pitch for the college located in his hometown. His older brother, Hayden, was a first round draft pick of the Chicago Cubs in 2010 after pitching at Southern Arkansas.

Simpson is the second pitcher to transfer from Arkansas this off-season. Left-hander Colin Poche transferred to Dallas Baptist after undergoing Tommy John surgery in June.
