Dennis Johnson was released by the Houston Texans Monday.

The former Arkansas running back spent half of last season on the Cleveland Browns' and Houston Texans' practice squads, but did play in eight games and make one start for Houston.

In the start, he carried the ball 12 times for only 29 yards and he finished his rookie season with 183 yards on 49 carries. Johnson also caught eight passes for 46 yards and returned six kickoffs for 151 yards.

In the Texans' first preseason game, Johnson carried the ball only once for minus-2 yards and returned one kickoff for 19 yards.
