Hog pledge adds strength and bulk during summer workouts

Arkansas receiver commitment Jordan Jones' body has changed after putting in extra work during the summer.

Smackover receiver Jordan Jones, an Arkansas 2016 commitment, began working with a personal trainer at the beginning of the summer and the results show.

Jones received his scholarship offer from the Hogs after recording 4.34 seconds in the 40 yard dash at Arkansas’ June 19 Elite Camp. He quickly committed after the camp.

He worked with his trainer Tuesday and Thursday along with working out with his high school five times a week.

“It taught me the work ethic, what it takes to be a good football player and a good leader,” said Jones, who was contacted by LSU and Auburn after running the 4.34 time in the 40. “It should help me in the long run.

Jones, who also had an offer from Tulsa, was drawing interest from Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Memphis, Louisiana Tech and others before his commitment to the Hogs. He recorded 25 receptions for 687 yards and 10 touchdowns last year and was named to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Super Sophomore team.

The 6-foot-2 Jones weighed 179 at the Hogs’ camp and has added five pounds to his frame going into his junior season.

“I’ve gotten stronger, I feel like I’ve gotten a little faster and a little quicker,” Jones said. “My bench (press) went up to 250. My squat went to 365.”
