The Recruiting Guy:
Hogs not slacking off with Stewart
Receiver Deon Stewart, who has been committed to Arkansas for about four months, is still getting plenty attention from the Razorback coaching staff.
He arrived home on Monday and was greeted with 19 handwritten letters from the Hogs.
"Well when I first came home and saw my opened mail on the table and kind of joked around with my mom about opening my mail,” said Stewart, who had 15 letters addressed to him while his mother had four. “She said they were for her. I then looked over and there was a lot more for me. I was like dang.”
Stewart, 6-1, 163, 4.48 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Highland recorded 36 receptions for 757 yards and 8 touchdowns and rushing 27 times for 448 yards and 4 touchdowns as a junior.
When he pledged to the Hogs, he also had scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Louisville, Tulsa, Southern Miss and Arkansas State. He had 6 interceptions as a defensive back and was named to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All Arkansas Team.
Stewart said the Razorbacks haven’t slacked off since his commitment.
“I've heard people say how some schools just die off and don't talk to you much after you commit, but Arkansas has talked to me the same, if not more,” Stewart said.
