Monday recruiting tidbits

Junction City's JaMario Bell impressed many with his athleticism at the Dallas Nike Camp.

Running back Charles West plans to unofficially visit Arkansas for the Nicholls State game Sept.6.

West, 5-10, 190, 4.38 of Coppell, Texas also plans to take an official visit to Fayetteville during the season.

He has offers from Arkansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, San Diego State, BYU, Arkansas State and Kansas State. Running back Joel Thomas is his lead recruiter.

Arkansas tight end-defensive end commitment JaMario Bell of Junction City has added about 20 pounds to his 6-6 frame since the spring. He said he weighs 248.

Running back Reggie Gallaspy, 5-11, 215 pounds, 4.50 seconds in the 40-yard dash, had 24 carries for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns Friday night. He lists in no particular order, Arkansas, Duke, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State and Michigan State as his top schools.

Running back Karan Higdon, 5-9, 190, 4.46 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Sarasota, (Fla.) Riverview had 7 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown. He had two 40 yard touchdown runs called back because of a penalty.

Junior quarterback Skylar Thompson, 6-2, 188, 4.60 of Independence, Mo. completed 14 of 22 passes for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns. He rushed 85 yards on 12 carries in a 51-26 win. He had a very impressive showing at Arkansas' June 19 Elite camp. Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney plans to watch video of Thompson's first three or four games and decide whether to extend an offer.

Star City junior defensive lineman Austin Capps, 6-3 1/2, 304, 5.0 plans to attend games at Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State in the fall. He has offers from Arkansas, Louisville and Mississippi State.
