The Recruiting Guy:
Florida DB planning visit to the Hill
NWA Media/ANDY SHUPE - Arkansas defensive coordinator Robb Smith directs his players during practice Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the UA practice field in Fayetteville.
The SEC and the chance to leave Florida has cornerback Ryan Pulley planning to officially visit Arkansas.
“I really want to play in the SEC,” said Pulley, who lists early playing time as a main factor in picking a school. “I think I would fit in well.”
Pulley, 6-1, 195 pounds, 4.39 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Cape Coral (Fla.) Island Coast received a scholarship offer from the Hogs Aug. 11 to go along with 14 others, including ones from Michigan State, Indiana, Arizona and Tennessee. Video highlights CLICK HERE
“I live in Florida, I've been around so long,” Pulley said. “I really want to get out of the state. I've been around it too long. I want to see something new, live somewhere else”
He’s been communicating with defensive coordinator Robb Smith.
“He’s saying they have a nice package for me to start at cornerback and I could play as a freshman and become a big factor,” he said. “They have NFL type coaches so I could get me into the league.”
Pulley said schools are recruiting him to play cornerback despite having the size and speed to play.
“Where were the team needs me, I'll play it,” Pulley said.
He plans to talk to Smith about taking an official visit in the middle of the season. He’s also looking to visit Tennessee, Arizona and Michigan State.
Despite living in Florida, Pulley prefers bass fishing.
“I've been doing it for a long time,” Pulley said. “Me and my friends used to always fish, fish, fish. It's way more exciting than saltwater.”
