Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and defensive backs coach Clay Jennings made an in-home visit with major target and safety Kahlil Haughton Thursday night.

Haughton,, 6-2, 180, 4.44 seconds in the 40 yard dash of Waco (Texas) Midway has more than 20 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Oklahoma,TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Duke. One of the best parts of the visit was learning more about Bielema.

“Just getting to talk about coach B's experience throughout coaching and with his players,” Haughton said. “He's a great genuine guy who really cares about his players and he's the same way he is in his environment as he is when recruiting.”

Haughton has outstanding speed and has recorded best times of 48.5 seconds in the 400 meters and 22.3 seconds in the 200. CBS Sports Network national recruiting analyst Tom Lemming lists Haughton the top prospect in the Waco area and a 4-star recruit.

“He can play free safety or cornerback,” Lemming said in an earlier interview. “He shows good range. He has proven he can be a very physical DB and can play tight on the line and is very confident with his feet.”

His parents, Gregory Haughton and Tanya Antonucci, were also impressed with Bielema.

“They definitely like the way he is as well,” Kahlil Haughton said. “They think he's an honest man that handles his players well.”

Bielema and Jennings talked about their expectations for Haughton.

“They think I could come in and compete for playing time early,” Haughton said. “They'd like me to play their strong safety position since it’s their more all around player.”

He may be close to a decision.

“Hopefully. I'll have to discuss with my parents,” Haughton said.
