Arkansas is looking to add playmakers at receiver and Highland’s Deon Stewart, a Razorback commitment has a chance to be just that next season.

He and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. have discussed his possible role.

"I talked to Coach Lunney and he said I can come in, do some reverses and punt return and some slant and go's and stuff like that,” said Stewart, who officially visited the Hogs over he weekend.

As a senior, he recorded 49 receptions for 1,005 yards, 11 touchdowns and 27 rushes for 301 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, he had 42 tackles, 3 interceptions and a recovered fumble.

Stewart requested and got freshman receiver Jared Cornelius as his player-host.

"My favorite part of the trip was getting to hang out with all the football players,” Stewart said. "Jared is a real fun guy. (Receivers) Coach (Michael) Smith said me and Jared kind of resemble a lot. Getting to hang out someone like me it's a cool deal."

He had 6 interceptions as a defensive back and was named to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All Arkansas Team as a junior. He also had 36 receptions for 757 yards and 8 touchdowns and rushing 27 times for 448 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Stewart and seven other commitments were able to watch the Hogs practice on Saturday.

"Coach Smith definitely works them,” Stewart said. “They do a good job and I'm anxious to get here and just get to work.”
