The Recruiting Guy

"Natural bender" enjoys official visit

Conway High School's offensive lineman Colton Jackson works the line during practice Monday, Aug. 23, 2014, in Conway.

Conway and Arkansas offensive tackle commitment Colton Jackson played on the left side while a Wampus Cat and it appears he’ll do the same once he reports to Arkansas.

“They said they’ll move me around, but I’ll probably start out at left tackle because that’s where I’m most comfortable,” Jackson said.

Jackson, 6-6, 304, 5.3 seconds in the 40 yard dash, has been to Fayetteville numerous times since his pledge to the Hogs in July of 2013, but he learned more while on his official visit over the weekend.

“I got to see a lot more of Fayetteville than I ever have, and I got to know the coaches and other recruits a lot better,” he said.

Jackson graded out at 84 precent and had 18 knockdown blocks and earned a spot on the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All Arkansas team as a junior.

National recruiting analyst Tom Lemming of CBS Sports Network rates Jackson a 4-star prospect.

“A natural bender, he’s able to slide and mirror with the best of them,” Lemming said. “He’s always to get good positioning and once he locks on it’s over.”

He was hosted by freshman running back Juan Day. He was able to spend time with offensive line commitment Joshua Allen.

“He’s a really cool guy,” Jackson said. “He’s funny. We get along real well and we’ve got a lot in common.”

Jackson who graded 85 percent and had 26 pancake blocks this season, liked what he saw of Arkansas’ practice on Saturday.

“It was uptempo,” Jackson said. “It looks like they were having a great time just putting in work."
