Day two: Houston recruiting tidbits

Sophomore defensive tackle Marvin Wilson is one of the more highly recruited prospects in the 2017 class.

Arkansas is on numerous 2016 and 2017 prospects in the Houston and the surrounding area.

Junior running back Rakeem Boyd, 6-1, 195, 4.5 of Houston Stratford is very high on Arkansas and said the Hogs would be one of his top schools if they offered.

He rushed for about 2,000 yards this season and likes the physical running game of the Razorbacks. He communicates with running backs coach Joel Thomas.

Boyd has the frame to carry another 20 to 30 pounds with ease. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Sophomore defensive lineman Marvin Wilson of Bellaire, (Texas) Episcopal is planning to visit the Hogs in the spring or summer.

Wilson, 6-5 1/2, 305, 5.0 seconds in the 40 yard dash, has interest from numerous other schools including Texas, TCU and Baylor. He likes the SEC and has a strong desire to play in the conference. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Bellaire, (Texas) Episcopal sophomore receiver-saftey Jhamon Ausbon, 6-3, 202, 4.56 is drawing interest from Arkansas, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M and others. He said he noticed the Hogs after beating LSU and his interest has increased since then. He watched the game with his father who is a LSU graduate. Running backs coach Joel Thomas is recruiting both. Junior quarterback Jalen Hurts, 6-2, 198, 4.57 of Channelview, Texas showed up for today's practice. He has offers from Mississippi State and Houston. He wants to play in a pro-style offense and that's big reason for his interest in the Hogs. He talks to offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and defensive backs coach Clay Jennings.

Junior offensive lineman Dixie Wooten III, 6-5, 320, 5.12 of Houston Lamar is receiving interest from Arkansas, LSU, Florida State, Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech and others. He said the Hogs, Bears and Red Raiders appear close to offering him.

Jennings has been recruiting him. Wooten said the Razorbacks are recruiting him as a guard. He said Arkansas' style of play is a good fit for him.

Junior running back Darius Anderson, 5-11, 190, 4.46 of Rosenberg, (Texas) George Ranch has offers from Tulsa and SMU offers while drawing interest from Arkansas, Texas A&M, LSU Oregon State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and others.

He said the Hogs have made it known they're very interested in him. Arkansas having two 1,000 yard rushers this season has made a big impact on him. He was 5-9, 180 as a sophomore. His doctor said he could grow to 6-1. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Junior linebacker Jordan Carmouche, 6-1, 200, 4.6 of Manvel, Texas attended part of today's practice that was moved indoors because of rain. He has an offer from the Hogs.
