Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/RICKMCFARLAND --03/01/12-- Junction City's Jamario Bell jumps over E. Poinsett's Darius Barnes in their 2A State Finals Basketball tournament game Thursday in Hot Springs.
Arkansas defensive end-tight end commitment JaMario Bell of Junction City shattered the backboard with a dunk against Norphlet on Friday night at 4:02 of the 3rd period. The game was called with the Dragons leading 55-25.
Bell, 6-6, 230 pounds finished the game with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks for the 20 and 0 Dragons.
Running back Ronald Jones II, 6-0, 185, 4.41 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of McKinney North High School anchored his school's 4x100 meter rely and 4x200 on Thursday. Unofficial times were 42.7 and 1:32. He and his mother will visit Arkansas on March 1.
Arkansas offensive line commitment Zach Rogers of Hebron, Texas, Carrollton took a functional test on his knee that required ACL surgery in August. The review was very positive and Rogers estimates himself being about 90 precent healed.
Nashville receiver La'Michael Pettway will visit Arkansas in March or April once basketball season is over.
Athlete Jamond Young, 5-11, 175 pounds of Bearden is another 2015 in-state prospect to keep an eye on. He played quarterback for the Bears and rushed for about 1,700 yards and passed for about 2,000.
Arkansas tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. visited the school to check on Young.
Coach Ernie Horstkamp said Arkansas State and Memphis are also showing interest. He said Young will attend Arkansas' camp this summer. Video highlights CLICK HERE
