Arkansas defensive end target Solomon Thomas’ determination has helped him become one of the nation’s top prospects, but he has a weakness so many are familiar with, fast food.
“I have a big problem,” Thomas said with a smile. “I love McDonald’s so much. I don’t know what it is. Maybe because it’s so cheap, but I’m so obsessed with it.”
Despite the vice, Thomas of Coppell, Texas is still a chiseled 261 pounds with outstanding speed coming off the edge that makes him one of the elite prospects in the nation. He’s fought back his urge for McDonald’s.
“I would go about three times a week from my freshman to junior year and the whole summer I didn’t go to McDonald’s once,” said Thomas, who has voiced about his love of the restaurant on Twitter. “That was big, I didn’t go until the season and offseason started about a couple months ago and I haven’t been back since. I can only eat it during the season I guess.”

“The McDouble with Mac Sauce,” Thomas said. “You have to try it.”
Thomas is also fond of bulldogs, another favorite topic of his on Twitter. His love for the breed started through a friendship with former Dallas Cowboy receiver Kevin Ogletree, who let the Thomas family take care of his bulldog, Kluster during the season.
“We would have him for like eight months at a time,” Thomas said. “When he was off playing he was basically our dog because we had him for about a total of two years. We knew Kevin for three. We just got obsessed and when Kevin had to take the dog it was sad for us. I’m just obsessed with bulldogs, because they’re so playful.”
The family doesn’t have a bulldog but that will likely change.
“We don’t have one right now, but my parents are probably going to get one,” Thomas said.
A loyal Arkansas fan in Arizona shares Thomas’ affection for bulldogs.
“She always tweets me these funny photos, like bulldog Wednesday or something like that,” Thomas said. “I get excited. She sends me cute photos of bulldogs.”
Thomas said it will be awhile before he gets his own dog.
“Definitely, when I’m done with college,” Thomas said. “I’m going to get one.”
