He’s talked to Coach Bret Bielema and offensive line coach Sam Pittman several times.

“They seem like real personable, genuine guys,” said Mike, who also reports talking to offensive coordinator Jim Chaney. “Coach Pittman will be out Thursday to my school.”

It was a December in-home visit from Pittman that convinced Mike to take an official visit to Arkansas. He plays center for his school’s basketball team.

“I love to compete, and it does make me a better football player,” Mike said.

Mike takes his physical football play to the basketball court.

“My football coaches love it, my dad loves it, but I now have a bad reputation with refs and I have to be very careful as they call anything and everything against me,” Mike said. “My basketball coach has to remind me all the time not to kill my teammates in practice.”

Mike is looking forward to his trip to Fayetteville after hearing good things from his father, who has been to the Natural State.

“He thought that Arkansas was really a beautiful state,” Mike said.

Mike officially visited Washington on Nov. 29 and plans to visit Florida on Jan. 24 and is considering several schools for Jan. 31. He has a 3.91 grade point average and is unsure of a major, but is considering pre-med or engineering.

“My goal is 4.0 GPA by graduation,” Mike said. “I have four AP classes last semester, so it may happen.”
