Thursday recruiting tidbits

The NCAA dead period ended Wednesday at midnight and college coaches around the nation will be visiting prospects at their schools and homes. Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and his staff are expected to visit several states, including Arkansas.

As reported earlier in the week, offensive line coach Sam Pittman will visit the school of Tucson, Arizona offensive lineman Andrew Mike, who plans to visit the Hogs this weekend.

Receivers coach Michael Smith is expected to visit River Ridge, (La.) Curtis receiver Malachi Dupre and linebacker Kenny Young, who's expected to arrive for his official visit to Arkansas on Sunday.

Smith is also expected to visit the schools of receivers Corey McBride, Torrance Mosley of Geismar (La.) Dutchtown and cornerback Henre' Toliver and linebacker Dwayne Eugene of Metairie, (La.) Rummel.

Tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. is expected to visit Little Rock Catholic to check on junior athlete D.J. Brown today. He spoke to Lunney Wednesday night.

Lunney is expected to visit Ft. Smith Northside on Friday to check on junior defensive end Daytrieon Dean.

Lunney and Bielema are expected to visit Pine Bluff High School to see junior tight end Will Gragg. They''re expected to arrive at Dollarway at 8:30 this morning to see safety Josh Liddell.

As reported earlier in the week, cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson will visit safety Christian Campbell of Phenix City, Ala. this morning He reports 11 offers from schools like Colorado State, Arkansas State, UAB, Memphis, Western Kentucky and Southern Miss. A Jan. 31 official visit to Arkansas appears to be likely.

2015 defensive end-tight end commitment JaMario Bell of Junction City said he spoke to defensive line coach Rory Segrest on Wednesday. He called Segrest a cool guy.

Bielema and Lunney are expected to visit North Little Rock High School to check on running back commitment Juan Day and junior receiver K.J. Hill. Day said both coaches will make an in-home visit tonight.

Kicker commitment Cole Hedlund of Argyle, Texas said he has spoken to Segrest and called him a great guy and someone who is real easy to talk to. He said Segrest will visit his school on Tuesday.

Prospects expected to officially visit Arkansas this weekend includes, Day, Mike, defensive lineman Bijhon Jackson of El Dorado , tight end Jack Kraus of Bentonville, cornerback Cornelius Floyd of Miami Gulliver and cornerback Lamont Simmons of Jacksonville, Fla.

An unnamed prospect that's scheduled to visit the Hogs is also scheduled to visit another SEC school this weekend. No way of knowing which school will get the visit.

Junior running back Chris Warren III is now able to jog after going to his three month checkup on Tuesday following ACL surgery. His mother said Chris was overly joyed after receiving the green light to start jogging.

Warren, 6-2, 227, 4.4 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Rockwall, Texas is considered to be one of the top junior prospects in the nation after rushing 174 times for 1,059 yards and 13 touchdowns as a sophomore. He and his mother plan to visit Arkansas in Feb. or for the spring game.

Junior receiver Jaelan Austin of Grand Prairie, Texas tweeted his current top ten of 1.Iowa 2.Arkansas 3.Texas 4.Baylor 5.TCU 6.Texas A&M 7.Indiana 8.Oklahoma 9.Nebraska 10.Minnesota on Wednesday evening.

Junior guard and Arkansas target King McClure of Triple A Academy scored 33 points and had 5 blocks in a 90-83 victory over Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins Tuesday night.

Bielama and Lunney visited Star City to check on 2016 defensive lineman Austin Capps, who has an offer from Arkansas.

Cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson wrapped up his visit to the school of safety Christian Campbell of Phenix City, Ala. earlier today. Campbell said he has Jan. 31 date set for an official visit. He said Johnson was going to look at his transcript before possibly offering.

Offensive lineman Andrew Mike of Tucson, (Ariz.) Sabino said his visit with offensive line coach Sam Pittman at his school went very well. Really likes him. He said Pittman and his father had breakfast together this morning. He and his father are expected to arrive about noon on Friday for their official visit.

Receiver Kendrick Edwards of Miami Norland tweeted that linebackers coach Randy Shannon visited his school today. He plans to visit the Hogs next weekend.

Josh Liddell is suppose to talk to Coach Bielema later tonight. There's a good possibility he commits while on the phone with Bielema.

2015 quarterback commit Ty Stprey of Charleston said Bielema and Lunney are expected to stop by his school on Friday and offensive coordinator Jim Chaney will attend his basketball game later that night.

Junior defensive lineman Jozie Milton, 6-3, 294, 4.9 of Clinton, (La.) Silliman Institute said he'll visit Arkansas on Feb. 22. He has offers from the Hogs, Arizona State and La. Tech.

8:08 update

Cornerback Cornelius Floyd, 6-1, 170 pounds, 4.49 of Miami Gulliver said on the Recruiting Thursday radio show that he could see himself committing to Arkansas if his official visit goes well this weekend.

His father, Nelson is favoring Arkansas, but wants his son to make his own decision. He and his wife, Audrey are planning to accompany their son on the trip.

Both father and son had high praise for linebackers coach Randy Shannon.

Dollarway's Josh Liddell said he and Coach Bret Bielema will not be talking tonight.

Friday 10 am update

Coach Bret Bielema and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. visited Conway HS this morning to check on 2015 OL commit Colton Jackson. Arkansas 2015 commitment Ty Storey of Charleston has been named Wendy's Arkansas Player of the Year.
