Tuesday recruiting tidbits

Forrest City linebacker Jaylin Johnson has decided to turn down several offers from smaller schools and walk on at Arkansas.

Johnson, 5-11, 205, 4.67 seconds in the 40 yard dash, reports offer from Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Arkansas Tech, Alabama A&M, OBU along with interest from Auburn, Southern Miss, Henderson St. and UCA.

He recorded 107 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and an interception.

Arkansas offensive coordinator Jim Chaney visited Nashville High School on Monday to check on junior receiver La'Michael Pettway.

Arkansas received five commitments from Saturday to Monday, athlete Josh Liddell of Dollarway, linebacker Randy Ramsey of Fort Lauderdale, (Fla.) Dillard, cornerback Cornelius Floyd of Miami Gulliver Prep, receiver Kendrick Edwards of Miami Norland and end Anthony Brown of Miami Killian. The Hogs now have 21 public commitments and two junior college signees. Receiver Torrance Mosley has taken off the commitment list

The Hogs will try and fill the last few spots between now and signing day on Feb. 5. The prospects the Razorbacks have the best shot of landing include, receiver Jojo Robinson of Miami Northwestern, defensive end Solomon Thomas, offensive lineman Andrew Mike of Tucson, Arizona, offensive lineman Frank Ragnow of Victoria, Minnesota, Chanhassen, linebacker Zack Wary of Rogers and cornerback Lamont Simmons of Jacksonville, (Fla.) Raines.

Safety Christian Campbell of Phenix, Ala. is a wildcard. He might be a late offer and a commitment is a good possibility if one is extended.

Others possibilities include, safety Steven Parker Jr. of Jenks, Okla, and linebacker Kenny Young of River Ridge, (La.) Curtis.

At this time, defensive lineman Breeland Speaks of Jackson, (Ms.) Callaway is the only scholarship prospect expected to visit this weekend. That could change. Some recruited walk ons are also expected to come in for official visits.

As reported last night, offensive lineman Frank Ragnow, 6-6, 291, 5.0 seconds in the 40 yard dash of Victoria, Minnesota, Chanhassen said on Twitter that he plans to announce his college decision at 3:15 on Friday at the school auditorium . He will choose from Arkansas, Florida State and Minnesota.

Posted on Sunday, but a reminder Bielema will see defensive end Solomon Thomas for an in-home today. Kicker commit Cole Hedlund will be on Tuesday or Wednesday. Linebacker commit Khalia Hackett likely on Thursday. Bielema is also expected to see linebacker Kenny Young today.

Junior defensive lineman Quentez Johnson, 6-4, 320, 5.2 of Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove said on Twitter that cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson visited his school this morning, Michigan State, Mississippi State, South Florida and North Carolina have offered.

Receiver Cory McBride of Geismar (La.) Dutchtown is no longer a commitment to Arkansas. The Hogs have decided to go in different direction.

The Hogs now have 20 commitments and two junior college signees for the 2014 class.

Offensive line coach Sam Pittman has met or will meet with offensive lineman Andrew Mike of Tucson, (Ariz.) Sabino today.

5:55 update

Being told there are rumors of offensive lineman Brian Wallace Jr. being shaky in his commitment to Arkansas and nothing could be further from the truth. Wallace is 100 precent certain of his commitment to the Hogs.

Wallace Sr. just got his Razorback cap in the mail a few days ago and received an Razorback sweat shirt today.

Being told Auburn asst. coach Tim Horton and Alabama Coach Nick Saban are watching junior tight end Will Gragg at the Pine Bluff-Sheridan basketball game.

Little Rock Catholic athlete D.J. Brown has been invited to Tulsa's junior day and Georgia's junior day on Feb. 15.
